Overview of lithium-ion batteries
Lithium ion battery: It is a type of secondary battery that mainly relies on the movement of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes to operate. During the charging and discharging process, Li+is intercalated and disembedded back and forth between the two electrodes: during charging, Li+is disembedded from the positive electrode, embedded into the negative electrode through the electrolyte, and the negative electrode is in a lithium rich state; When discharging, the opposite is true.
Lithium ion batteries were first developed by Sony Corporation of Japan in 1990. It embeds lithium ions in carbon (petroleum coke and graphite) to form negative electrode (lithium or lithium alloy is used as negative electrode for traditional lithium batteries). LixCoO2, LixNiO2, and LixMnO4 are commonly used as positive electrode materials, and LiPF6+ethylene carbonate (EC)+dimethyl carbonate (DMC) are used as electrolyte. Petroleum coke and graphite as anode materials are non-toxic and have sufficient resources. Lithium ion is embedded in carbon, which overcomes the high activity of lithium and solves the safety problems existing in traditional lithium batteries. Positive LixCoO2 can reach a high level in charging, discharging performance and life, reducing the cost. In short, the comprehensive performance of lithium ion batteries has been improved. It is expected that lithium-ion batteries will occupy a large market in the 21st century.
❖Production of lithium-ion batteries from 2018 to 2022
In recent years, the annual production of lithium-ion batteries in China has shown a significant upward trend. In 2021, the lithium-ion battery industry in China will deepen the supply side structural reform as the main line, accelerate the modernization of the industrial chain supply chain, and achieve sustained and rapid growth.
In 2021, China's production of lithium-ion batteries reached 22.998 billion units, a year-on-year increase of 22.37%. From January to September 2022, the production of lithium-ion batteries reached 17.288 billion units, a year-on-year increase of 4.76%. In recent years, the highest annual production points have all appeared in the fourth quarter, so market demand in 2022 is still foreseeable.
